In March, Jason Hatfield, one of ImageTrend’s dedicated Technical Account Managers, was honored with the CAL FIRE Partnership Award at the department’s annual Director’s Awards Ceremony. The award celebrates a collaboration that’s transforming CAL FIRE’s statewide data ecosystem and improving operational efficiency across the board.
As one of the largest fire departments in North America, CAL FIRE operates a complex and expansive emergency response system, serving both rural and urban communities across the state. Ensuring consistent, accurate documentation across such a vast network is no small feat, and the collaboration with ImageTrend has played a key role in achieving that goal.
Improving Field Efficiency Through Unified Workflows
For the past 18 months, Jason has worked closely with CAL FIRE to streamline workflows, enhance field documentation, and link fire and EMS records through a unified Elite experience. These improvements allow field crews to complete fire documentation more efficiently, from the scene, using a combined incident form in Elite Field.
“Previously, EMS and fire incidents were documented separately,” Jason shared. “Now, when an ePCR is started, the system automatically generates a linked fire record. That reduces duplication and helps crews focus on the call, not the paperwork.”
The initiative also helped consolidate more than 200 agencies into a single statewide structure within Elite, with data from 23 CADs feeding into one centralized system. The result? Greater consistency and efficiency across California’s vast emergency response landscape.
CAL FIRE currently leverages several of ImageTrend’s solutions, including Elite™ for fire and EMS documentation, to support consistent, statewide reporting.
Jason was quick to emphasize that this milestone was made possible by the collective effort of many: “This project wouldn’t have happened without the incredible work of our developers, support engineers, and the CAD team. I was just the bus driver.”
We’re honored to support CAL FIRE and thrilled to see this partnership recognized. Congratulations to Jason and the team for a job well done.
