In healthcare, even small process improvements can make a big impact. That’s exactly what the latest ImageTrend Patient Registry updates aim to do—streamline workflows, reduce manual effort, and give clinical teams more time to focus on what really matters: patient care.
Whether you’re a trauma registrar, PI nurse, or program manager, these new features were designed with you in mind. Here’s a look at the latest enhancements from the March and upcoming May releases—and how they’re solving real-world challenges in trauma data collection and performance improvement.
1. Autosave: Say Goodbye to Lost Data
One of the most anticipated updates, Autosave, is coming soon—and it’s a game-changer.
Historically, registrars have had to manually click “Save” while entering patient data. If they get pulled away mid-entry (as often happens), unsaved data could be lost entirely. This has not only caused frustration but also impacted productivity and data integrity.
The new Autosave feature, expected in the May release, addresses this issue head-on by automatically saving data in the background as registrars work. No more duplicate data entry. No more lost time. No more headaches.
Who benefits:
• Registrars, who can work more efficiently and confidently
• PI nurses, who may do less data entry but still benefit from time-saving features
• Program managers, who care deeply about team efficiency and satisfaction
The feature is currently being tested by pilot sites with great feedback so far—so Autosave will soon be rolled out to all users.
2. Review Meeting Format: Unified View for PI Nurses
Another powerful improvement—now live as of March—is the new Review Meeting Format in the Performance Improvement (PI) module.
This update allows PI nurses to document multiple complications and PI audit filters in one unified view during a review meeting. Previously, users had to document each issue separately, jumping between multiple screens and sections. Now, it can all be done in one place.
Key features:
• Document multiple complications and PI filters at once
• Add meeting type, date, attendees, and notes in a single view
• Save time and gain a clearer, unified picture of incident reviews
This not only speeds up documentation, but it also aligns better with how trauma teams actually work—discussing multiple issues in one meeting rather than treating each separately.
3. On-Screen Calculations: Critical Timelines at a Glance
One of the more technical, yet incredibly helpful updates is the addition of automated calculations for commonly measured time intervals. These new fields are now displayed directly within the registry interface—eliminating the need to build custom reports just to track critical time metrics.
These include:
• Emergent Ortho Consult Time
• Emergent Neuro Consult Time
• Emergent Radiology Consult Time
• Door to CT Imaging Time
• Door to Antibiotics
• Door to Exploratory Lab
• Time to OR for Closed Femur Shaft Fracture
• Trauma Surgeon Arrival Time (Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3)
Instead of going back and forth from the data entry form into Report Writer, the user can now see the calculations done in the form, which saves time and improves visibility.
Bonus: These calculation fields are configurable—they can be placed anywhere in the form where they make the most sense for your team.
Built for the Way You Work
All of these enhancements reflect a deeper philosophy: ImageTrend’s Patient Registry is evolving to fit your workflow—not the other way around. Whether it’s saving your staff time, reducing the risk of data loss, or surfacing the metrics that matter most, these updates are about empowering users and improving outcomes.
And while many of these updates must be activated manually in your forms, customers are already familiar with this process. As always, updates that are required for NTDB or ACS compliance will be added automatically.
Smarter Trauma Data, Better Performance Improvement
These updates might seem small, but they’re solving big problems—eliminating redundant tasks, improving team communication, and boosting data reliability across the board. Together, these enhancements help trauma teams work more efficiently, make faster decisions, and focus more on patient care. It’s all part of a smarter approach to performance improvement—one that turns better data into better outcomes.
