LAKEVILLE, MINN. [May 24, 2018] - ImageTrend, Inc. announced the availability of a feature for Positive Identification of EMS personnel for the handling of controlled substances. This function employs a list of challenge questions that can be randomly generated at time of signature when documenting a controlled substance within a patient care report to verify the identity of the logged in medic.
“A completely electronic record is vital to data integrity and interoperability,” commented Dan Vanorny, Vice President of Software Engineering at ImageTrend. “We are pleased to include a secure and 100% electronic method for Positive ID verification to benefit Elite users.”
The method will be first used in Ohio, where it adheres to the state’s Board of Pharmacy requirements. The Administrative Code governs the possession and use of dangerous drugs by emergency medical service organizations while keeping the entire record electronic. Systems absent of such a feature would require a manual signature on a paper copy of the report.
ImageTrend Elite is the leading solution for electronic records of prehospital patient care. With Elite, EMS crews can quickly complete an ePCR incident using an iPad, Android tablet or Windows computer. The cloud-based platform allows first responders to document care virtually anywhere – even without an internet connection when using Elite Field. It also allows fire departments to record fire incidents within the same system with a seamless connection to related EMS incidents.
