About the Presenter Steve Hartman
Captain | Fairfax County Fire & Rescue Department
Captain Steve Hartman has more than 25 years of experience in fire and EMS with over 20 years as a paramedic. He currently works as the Incident Report Coordinator and HIPAA Privacy Officer within the Data Analytics Strategy Management Division of the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department, where he has been employed for 19 years. Captain Hartman’s areas of interest center around data-informed decision-making and leveraging technology to enhance and automate quality assurance and improvement.
Providing exceptional care and service to vulnerable members of the community are also areas of interest, as he is currently involved in multiple interagency projects and collaborations with the goal of coordinating assistance and care to at-risk populations. Captain Hartman earned his B.A. from the University of Virginia and during his career has worked in a variety of EMS service environments, including career, volunteer, and combination departments; deployed in fire-based, third service, and hospital-based models.
